A weekend of screen-free neighborhood delights.
It’s been a long two years, everyone. We’ve all been so tied to our screens that it’s time to get out there and give yourselves, and your screens, a break!

So we invite you to come on over to Modern Art, IRL, and check your phone into our newly remodeled PHONOTEL or set your iPad free for some time at the CRASHPAD. We’ll have all sorts of analog versions of all the things you use your little pocket device for so you can get out there and check out the world!

  A retreat for and from your phone

  Modern Art's Phonotel provides an opportunity for you to disconnect from the internet in your pocket in order to connect with the world around you. We’ve all gotten a little too used to these small screens in our pockets, so it is quite useful to take a break and see what the tangible world around us has to offer. (Plus, your hard-working device deserve some much needed time off.) Some of us are more dependent on our devices than others, which is why the Phonotel gives visitors a framework to safely learn the valuable skill of phone independence.

  Bring yourself, and your phone, over to Modern Art where you can check your phone into one of our 60 custom-designed hotel rooms for an hour, or for the whole weekend. We provide you with all the help you need to get out there any enjoy the world around you.

• THE DEBUT OF THE “CRASHPAD” A new motel for your larger devices. Give you and your child’s tablet a break from all the hard work it’s been doing.

• MAPS OF DELIGHTS: Worried that you can’t survive without your phone’s GPS? Not to worry! You can just grab one of our special walking tour maps and hit the streets to look for neighborhood curiosities, portals to new worlds, stories, and plenty of free amusements for a delightful phone-free adventure

• LIVE MUSIC! With STREETBEANS BRASS BAND: Stuck listening to the same Spotify playlists? Come on over and feel the magical sensorial rush of a real live band! 3:00-4:00pm on Saturday, May 21. Followed by a complimentary happy hour in the Phonotel lobby. Meet and talk to your neighbors IRL.

• MODERN MESSENGER SERVICE: Love texting and emailing? Give our analog messaging service a try: just grab some of the neighborhood messages and help us deliver, or write a letter yourself and drop it in our people-powered delivery
