We’ve all gotten a little too used to these small screens in our pockets, in our laps, in between us and the world, so it is quite useful to take a break and see what the tangible world around us has to offer.  Modern Art’s Welcome to the (Analog) Neighborhood provides an array of easy and fun activities to remember what the world is like, IRL.

Modern Art set up a weekend of screen-free delights, allowing folks to reconnect with their friends, family, neighbors and to rediscover the beauty and hidden delights all around us. Check them out below!

GRAND RE-OPENING OF MODERN ART’S PHONOTEL
A retreat for and from your phone
Modern Art’s Phonotel provides an opportunity for you to disconnect from the internet in your pocket in order to connect with the world around you. Visitors are invited to check their phone into one of our 60 custom-designed hotel rooms for an hour, or for the whole weekend. We provide you with all the help you need to get out there any enjoy the world around you.

MAPS OF DELIGHTS
Are you concerned that you can’t survive without your phone’s GPS?
Not to worry! Pick up one of our special walking tour maps and hit the streets to look for neighborhood curiosities, follow a story path displayed inside neighborhood windows, discover portals to new worlds, and end up in some of our favorite, free, Lancaster spots. And thanks to all the neighbors who participated in our survey questions (attached to a pedal-powered generator) to help populate the neighborhood maps.

Love texting, emailing and dm-ing?
That’s cool. But why not give our analog messaging service a try: just grab some of the neighborhood messages to help deliver, or write a letter or message yourself and drop it in our people-powered delivery system.

Been using that device to curate all your music?
We got ya. Thanks to Street Beans we reminded folks what it feels like to hear a real live musician playing in your presence. Maybe even dance a little. And how about a parade?!?

Love taking and sharing pictures with your device? So many of us do! For our shutterbugs and influencers, Modern Art offered plenty of camera machines to take with you on your phone-free journeys. We even had our own version of social media- the An(alog)stagram wall for posting your cute selfies and such, And interviews where you could share your thoughts, ideas and post-worthy comments with a real live human.
